What happens during the Gwalior Fort light and sound show?

The show is an outdoor evening performance that narrates the history of the fortress.

It uses lighting effects and voiceovers to tell the story of the site. Emperor Babur once called the fort the pearl amongst fortresses in India, and the show highlights this grand past. You can choose to attend the Hindi or the English presentation.

How much are Gwalior Fort light and sound show tickets?

You must buy a separate ticket for the evening performance.

Your daytime ASI fort entry ticket does not cover the evening show. Daytime tickets cost ₹75 for Indian citizens and ₹250 for foreign tourists. You will need to purchase the show ticket locally. Remember to bring cash to pay for your admission.

The main fort complex closes to daytime visitors daily at 5:30 PM. The light and sound performances begin after sunset. There are separate time slots for the Hindi and English narrations each night.

What should you wear to the evening show?

Dress for the weather and bring layers during the winter.

From November to February, evening temperatures drop. Pack a light jacket or sweater to stay warm during the outdoor performance. You should also wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip, as the ground consists of uneven stone.

How do you get to the show in the evening?

Hiring a vehicle to the Urvai Gate is the safest and easiest option at night.

The Urvai Gate approach on the western side is drivable. A taxi or auto-rickshaw takes 15 to 20 minutes from the city center. This avoids the steep 30 to 45-minute pedestrian climb up the Gwalior Gate (Hathi Pol) in the dark.
